A Green Smoothie to fight off the dreaded Mondays

I’m a pretty bubbly person, I don’t get down very easy and I’m usually wayyyyy too excited for my own good. But even since I started working in a field that I love, I still get a case of the Mondays.

So how do I fight the Mondays? I start my day off with a Green Smoothie that I’ll really enjoy. This day is usually reserved for the unhealthiest smoothie I got (if you can even call it unhealthy. By the way you can’t).

A day where I bust out the honey.

I don’t know about you but I loooove me some honey. I buy mine from the farmers market in giant tubs (3 kgs!).

Not All Honey Is Created Equal

Okay, so let me set this straight. I don’t recommend eating lots and lots of honey. It’s not that healthy, it’s full of glucose and fructose. However, in moderation it is a way better alternative to processed sugars.

When you’re buying honey make sure you look to see if it has been pasteurized. Pasteurized honey goes through a heating process which destroys the pollen and the natural flavouring of the honey. Almost all of the honey at grocery stores is pasteurized. If you taste the difference of raw honey versus pasteurized honey you’ll immediately be able to tell, raw honey tastes better and it’s healthier.

A side note raw honey is not recommended for infants.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Spinach Smoothie

Let me introduce you to my current fav green smoothie: Chocolate, Peanut Butter deliciousness. Mmmmmmm. Okay so there are no peanuts in there, although almond butter is really close. This Monday buster is full of healthy fats and flavour to get your week started right.
