Fall Harvest Green Smoothie

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love summer but fall – it’s the best. I love bundling up and taking a walk down the river. The leaves are turning and the air starts to become crisper. This also means my wardrobe expands, that Halloween and Christmas are right around the corner, and best of all, the apples.

As a kid my parents had an orchard and fall meant apples – tons of apples. Nothing is better then the first bite into a crisp hand-picked apple. I was home for a wedding this past weekend and I loaded up on fresh apples. With the leaves turning and an abundance of delicious home grown organic apples, I felt like I HAD to make a Fall Apple Green Smoothie.

  • 2 C. Spinach
  • 1 C. Almond Milk
  • 1 C. Ice Cubes

Instructions

  • Grate the frozen ginger
  • Peel the lemon
  • Remove the apple core
  • Blend it!

Health Benefits

I was tempted to call this Smoothie ‘C-Boost’ because it’s packed with Vitamin C. Not only does this Green Smoothie taste like fall, it’ll help prevent the common cold. It has well over 100mg of Vitamin C! Ginger also has properties effective for fighting symptoms from a cold or flu.

Hint: If you freeze your Ginger you can grate it right into the smoothie, skin and all!
