What is a Green Smoothie?

Green Smoothies are supercharged smoothies packed full of nutrients. Green smoothies are generally one part green vegetable, one part fruit or other natural sweetener and one part liquid such as coconut oil, almond milk or good ol’ fashioned water. We’ll also mix in other ingredients such as cashews, cacao or chia seeds.

We all know we should be eating more veggies, the problem is how do that when we’re so busy!  Our goal at Green Smoothie for Beauty is to help you add a delicious green smoothie into your daily routine. If we do our job right, at any given time you’ll be able to open your fridge and have enough ingredients on hand to make an amazingly delicious smoothie.

But They Taste Awful!

The first Green Smoothie I ever had was awful. Fortunately for me (and my health) I gave them another try and the rest is history. Now I got a case of Green Smoothie Love. To avoid having a traumatic green goop experience follow these simple steps!


If you’re just starting out, keep it simple. Use a 3:1 ratio of fruits to veggies. I personally use a ratio closer to 1.5:1, but I’ve learned to love my greens. Be patience, like any relationship – yours with Spinach will take some time ;).


If you can’t stomach even the smallest of chunks, i’d recommend buying a high power blender. If you don’t mind the odd piece of apple skin or spinach floaty you can literally use any blender. If you are using a cheaper blender, blend the greens with a small amount of liquid prior to adding everything else. This will dramatically cut down on unwanted chunks.

The best ingredients to use for AMAZING texture are bananas, avocados, nut butters and coconut milk. If you like creamy smoothies, look for recipes that have at least one of these natural creamers.
