A boost for the brain!
I’m hard at work studying for my CFA, it’s essentially a financial designation with various topics rolled up into one course. I’m a few years (okay, maybe quite a few years) removed from school, and I’ve found my ability to retain information isn’t quite what it used to be. With this in mind I decided to concoct a Green Smoothie that’s good for my brain – I came up with this Avocado Green Smoothie loaded with brain benefits.
- 500mL Almond Milk
- 1/2 Avocado
- 1 Cup of Blueberries
- 1/2 Cucumber
- 1/2 Frozen Banana
- Blend it!
Avocados – Increases blood flow and reduces your blood pressure. Gravity is constantly working against your heart to pump fluid into, you guessed it, your brain.
Blueberries have been proven to protect your brain against oxidative stress which can lead to disease such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Almonds – The bad news is that most Americans are vitamin E deficient. The good news is Almond milk is a great source of Vitamin E. Among other things, vitamin E helps to reduce cognitive decline.
So, on mornings when I’m feeling a little foggy I’ll start my day with The Brain Booster: Avocado and Blueberry Smoothie
